3D bioprinting has generated significant attention due to its ability to recapitulate native tissue microenvironments.
This Collection will assemble original Articles that present novel bioprinting techniques, innovative cell-laden or scaffold-free bioprinting processes, advanced bioprinter technologies, synthesis and development of new functional bioinks, and bioprinting of functional tissues for tissue or organ repair and regeneration. Research on new biomimetic tissue or organ models for drug testing and disease modelling is also welcome.

The Collection is Guest Edited by Professor Ibrahim Ozbolat, Penn State University, USA. Ibrahim Ozbolat is a Hartz Family Associate Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering Department, and a faculty of the Huck Institute of the Life Sciences at Penn State University, USA. He is a leading researcher in the field of 3D bioprinting, with over 100 publications including a sole-authored book. He has also received several national and international awards for his research. Prof Ozbolat has been serving as Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports since 2017.
